INSTALLATION
-
CHOOSE MOUNTING LOCATION: You can install the Remote Switch in an existing electrical box, it will fit great next to your hard-wired switches. You can also mount it on any type of clean flat surface or use it as a hand-held remote without the mounting base.

INSTALL THE MAGNETIC BASE: In an electrical box.
-
Turn the power off at the breaker.
-
Make sure you have an empty spot in the box to fit the Remote Switch in.
-
Use a standard flat head screwdriver to attach the magnetic base to the electrical box with the supplied mounting screws.
-
On a wall or any clean flat surface: Use the supplied screws or adhesive tape to attach the magnetic base to the surface of your choice
-
3. ATTACH THE WALL PLATE: Use the supplied short wall plate screws to attach the plate over the magnetic base or use your existing switch plate if mounting the device in a multi-gang box.
4. PLACE THE REMOTE SWITCH IN THE BASE: That’s it! Just place the remote in the base and either keep it there to use the device as a standard wall switch or take it out and put it on your night stand when going to bed for convenient remote control.

This product should be installed indoors only upon completion of any building renovations.

Prior to installation, the device should be stored in a dry, dustand-mold-proof place.

Do not install the device in a place with direct sun exposure, high temperature, or humidity.

Keep away from chemicals, water, and dust.

Ensure the device is never close to any heat source or open flame to prevent fire.

No part of the device may be replaced or repaired by the user except for the batteries.
Z-WAVE CONTROL
There are 2 methods to add the device to your hub:
SmartStart:
-
REMOVE POWER FROM THE DEVICE.
-
Use the hub UI / app to scan the SmartStart code on the device. The SmartStart QR code / security PIN is located on the front metal plate of the switch and on the box.
-
Once completed, power on the device for SmartStart inclusion; it will be added automatically.
-
Do NOT click any of the buttons on the device during the process. (Except for SmartThings, you may need to click the upper paddle 3 times). See below for hub-specific instructions.
Manual Inclusion:
-
Initiate inclusion (pairing) in the app or hub UI.
-
Make sure the device is powered and finalize the inclusion at the device: click the main button 3 times quickly.
-
The LED indicator will blink blue to signal communication and turn green for 3 seconds if inclusion is successful or turn red for 3 seconds if the pairing attempt fails.

TROUBLESHOOTING
The device won’t add to your system? Try this:
-
Initiate EXCLUSION and click the lower paddle 6 times quickly.
-
Click the upper paddle 7-8 times as quickly as possible or try adding it in a non-secure mode.
-
Bring the device closer to your hub, it may be out of range.
-
Double-check if the device is powered.
-

EXCLUSION
-
Bring the Remote Switch within direct range of your Z-Wave® gateway (hub).
-
Put the Z-Wave® hub into exclusion mode.
-
Click the lower paddle 6 times very quickly.
-
Your hub will confirm exclusion and the device will disappear from your controller's device list.

FACTORY RESET
When your network’s primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable, you may need to reset the device to factory settings manually. To complete the process, ensure the device is powered, then tap-tap-tap'n'hold the lower paddle (this is the bottom paddle closer to the LED indicator) until the LED indicator starts blinking red. The LED indicator will blink 10 times and then stay solid red for 2 seconds to indicate a successful reset.
NOTE: All previously recorded activity and custom settings will be erased from the device’s memory.
WAKE-UP MODE
You will need to wake the Remote Switch up when changing any advanced settings or assigning any new scenes or actions to it. Click the upper paddle 7 times as quickly as possible to wake the device up. The LED indicator will stay on solid blue during wake-up and will turn off when the device turns the Z-Wave® radio off again.

ASSOCIATION
The Remote Switch supports Group 1 with 1 Controller node for Lifeline communication, Group 2 with up to 10 devices for on/off control through basic set commands (single click paddle), and Group 3 with up to 10 devices for dimming control through switch multilevel commands (press-and-hold paddle).

RANGE TEST TOOL
You can easily check if the Remote Switch is within your ZWave® hub’s range once it is included to your hub:

Include the device to your hub.
-
Press and hold the lower paddle for 20 seconds until the LED indicator starts blinking white.
-
The LED indicator will then report signal strength.
-
Solid green = direct communication with the primary controller is stable
-
Flashing green = direct communication with the primary controller is established but signal is weak
-
Solid orange = stable communication with hub via repeaters
-
Flashing orange = communication with the primary controller is established via repeaters but signal is weak
-
Solid red = communication with the primary controller has failed
-
Tap the lower paddle to exit testing mode. The device will automatically exit the range test mode after 20 seconds. NOTE: This function may only be activated once the Remote Switch has been included to a Z-Wave® network
S2
This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave® network with other Z-Wave® certified devices from other manufacturers and/or other applications. All non-battery operated nodes within the network will act as repeaters regardless of vendor to increase reliability of the network. This product features the latest Security 2 (S2) framework to remove smart home network hacking risks. This device is equipped with a unique authentication code for trusted wireless communication. SmartStart enabled products can be added into a Z-Wave® network by scanning the Z-Wave® QR Code present on the product with a controller providing SmartStart inclusion. No further action is required and the SmartStart product will be added automatically within 10 minutes of being switched on in the network vicinity.
