Accessing Advanced Settings for Your ZEN34 Remote Switch on Home Assistant

Once your Remote Switch is added to Home Assistant, all of the advanced settings should display automatically.

With the JS integration of Home Assistant, you should have access to all of its advanced settings once you've included the Scene Controller. If you aren't on the JS integration yet, Home Assistant currently recommends handling Z-Wave devices through the new Z-Wave JS integration since all others have essentially been abandoned and / or discontinued.

If you're not seeing certain settings, you can now change any parameter manually on the JS Z-Wave integration for Home Assistant.

It needs to be done in zwavejs2mqtt and it’s not possible to do this within HA directly at the moment:

  1. Under node, scroll down below any exposed settings for the device (under Configuration) to the Custom Configuration section as shown in the screenshot here, where you'll see Value, Parameter and Size.
  2. You can enter the data according to the product documentation and click SET for the parameter to be updated.
  3. If you have a battery-powered device, you'll need to wake it up by performing the same activation sequence as during inclusion.

If you're still using the OZW integration, and you can't seem to access one or more of the settings, you can expose them manually. Use the Call Service zwave.set_config_parameter command to manually adjust selected parameters, just as shown in the screenshot below. You'll need to manually input the node_id for the device, and then enter the parameter number, desired value, and size (usually 1 but please double check this detail in the manual). This screenshot is just an example so you'll need to change all of the details accordingly.

After making the changes, be sure to wake up the switch manually to allow the changes to be registered immediately. You can wake up the switch by tapping the upper paddle 7 times as a quickly as possible.
