The ZSE18 Motion Sensor should connect to Hubitat easily since it is officially integrated. However, we recommend installing the custom driver for access to the advanced settings. You'll be able to see all of the available settings under Preferences of the primary device in Hubitat (remember to save the device after each change).
All About Advanced Settings
The terminology for advanced settings varies depending on your Z-Wave hub. For instance, Hubitat lists them under the “Preferences” tab. Despite these differences in naming, the purpose remains the same: configuring consistent behavior for your device. We provide the full list of settings available for each device in our Knowledge Base.
Each advanced setting consists of four key parts:
-
Label: If your device is properly integrated with your hub, this will display as the setting's name. Hubs like SmartThings show only the label and description.
-
Parameter Number & Description: Most hubs, such as Hubitat and Home Assistant, list the parameter number along with the label and description.
-
Values: These are the selectable options for each setting. Some are simple (e.g., Enable/Disable), while others use numerical values.
-
Size: This is required in some systems when manually changing advanced settings (e.g., Home Assistant) or in hubs that do not provide direct access to settings.
If you find there are settings you are unable to access, or if you would like to use the community driver, check out the instructions below!
Install the Community Driver
Follow these easy steps to install the driver and change the advanced settings in device view:
-
Open Hubitat in your browser.
-
Click on Drivers Code in the side menu.
-
In the top right corner, click on "+New Driver" and paste the code from the following link to access the code for the driver, then copy ALL of the code from the page.
-
Click Save in the top right corner.
-
You'll see a Zooz Motion Sensor ZSE18 Advanced in your Drivers Code list now.
-
Assign the driver to the device by opening to the device view and selecting the Zooz Motion Sensor ZSE18 Advanced from the drop-down menu under Device Type.
-
Click Update Device.
-
You will now see the additional setting display in the device view in Hubitat where you can customize the sensor.
-
Once done, click Update Device again.
-
Remember to triple click the Z-Wave button to wake the sensor up so the new settings take right away. Otherwise, they'll update once the sensor wakes up automatically a few hours later.
-
IMPORTANT: Please go to the parent device and click configure and then wait for syncing to be completed. It will change to sync on the right upper side.
If you prefer not to use the custom driver, you can try out this Z-Wave Universal Device Scanner to access any parameters that may not be available yet in the custom driver. Please note that use of this driver is intended for expert users; use at your own risk: https://community.hubitat.com/t/release-z-wave-universal-device-scanner/97912
