Can't Add My ZEN51 Dry Contact Relay to My Z-Wave System

Having an issue including your ZEN51 Dry Contact Relay? Let's begin by excluding the unit.

Exclusion can also be referred to as "unpairing," "disconnecting," or "removing" a device. This acts as a soft reset that can assist with various configuration or connectivity issues. The ZEN51 doesn't need to be included in your system for it to be excluded successfully.

 

  1. Put your Z-Wave hub into exclusion mode (see your controller's manual for details, as each brand is different)
  2. Click the Z-Wave button 3 times quickly. Alternatively, if the relay is already installed, you can simply toggle the external switch connected to ZEN51 very quickly from off to on, so: "up-down, up-down, up-down."
  3. Your hub should confirm exclusion and the relay will disappear from the interface

 

Once you receive confirmation of exclusion, try adding the device to the system to see if that solves the issue. And if that still doesn't help, try these steps next: 

 

  • Try the exclusion process one more time
  • Click the Z-Wave button 4-5 times quickly when adding it, or add it in a non-secure mode
  • If you tried excluding/including from the installation location, try it again closer to the hub. If the second try is successful, the original spot may be out of range of the Z-Wave hub.
