Having issues including the ZEN05 Outdoor Smart Plug to Home Assistant? Let's try excluding it first!
The best part: a device doesn't need to be included first to be excluded - and it'll help with any configuration or connectivity issues!
Here's how to do it:
- In Home Assistant: open Settings > Devices and Services > Z-Wave JS > Configure
- Click on Remove Device
- Click on Start Exclusion
- Press the Z-Wave button 3 times very quickly to finalize the exclusion process.
- HA will confirm an unknown device was removed. If you are excluding an already included device, you will need to restart Home Assistant
- After exclusion is confirmed, try adding the Smart Plug to Home Assistant again.
If exclusion is not successful:
Try a factory reset on the device. First, make sure the plug is powered, then follow the steps below:
- Click the Z-Wave button twice and hold it the third time for 10 seconds.
- The LED indicator will flash green 3 times to confirm a successful reset.
After that, try including it to your Z-Wave system again to see if that helped the issue.
If that didn't work, please try the steps below:
- Try the exclusion process once more, in case the initial exclusion command wasn't registered correctly.
- Try including the device by pressing the Z-Wave button 4-5 times instead of 3.
- Bring the plug closer to the hub to see if it connects in a closer location. If it connects without issue in the new spot, then the first location may be out of range or there may be too many interferences in that area.
If you've tried all the above, but are still unable to include the ZEN05, please let us know! Our team is ready to help.
