Not able to add the Smart Plug to Home Assistant? You may need to exclude it first.

It may sound strange, but exclusion is just a reset. A device doesn't need to be included to be able to be excluded. 

Here's how to do it: 

1. In Home Assistant: open Settings > Devices and Services > Z-Wave JS > Configure
2. Click on Remove Device
3. Click on Start Exclusion
4. Press the Z-Wave button 3 times very quickly to finalize the exclusion process
5. The device will now be removed, but that won’t show until you restart Home Assistant
6. After exclusion is confirmed, try adding the Smart Plug to Home Assistant again. 

If exclusion is not successful:

Try a factory reset on the device. First, make sure the plug is powered, then follow the steps below:

1. Click the Z-Wave button twice and hold it the third time for 10 seconds.
2. The LED indicator will flash green 3 times to confirm a successful reset.
3. After the reset is confirmed, try adding the Smart Plug to Home Assistant again. 

If that didn't work, here are some troubleshoots we find helpful: 

• Try the exclusion process again in case the command from the first run weren't registered correctly. 
• Try adding the device by pressing the Z-Wave button 4-5 times instead of 3.
• Try bringing device closer to the hub to see if it connects in a closer location. If it connects without issue in the new spot, then the first location may be out of range or there may be too many interferences in that area.
