Trouble controlling your ZEN73 via Z-Wave? Here's what you can try.

The 500 line of sight range of your ZEN73 can be affected by interferences like large furniture, thick walls, and metal elements. Ultimately range is determined by the specific structure of your home and the strength of your mesh network. If you're seeing connectivity issues, we first recommend healing your Home Assistant network. This function refreshes the connections between your hub and devices so that the hub can find the most efficient route to each device.

  1. Click on the Z-Wave Control Panel in Home Assistant

  2. Under Z-Wave Network Management, click Heal Network

If the above didn't help or you're still experiencing issues, give the below a try:

  1. Give exclusion and re-inclusion a try. Sometimes the hub doesn't find the best path to the switch the first time around.

  2. Add a Z-Wave signal repeating device (like a smart plug or any other non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the switch and hub. Run another Heal Network so that the network recognizes the additional device.

  3. Try to bring the hub closer to the switch. If you're able to exclude, include, and the switch stays connected without any issues, then it's possible the switch is outside the hub's range when the hub is in its usual spot.

  4. Make sure your switch box is not made of metal. Metal is effective at shortening range or disrupting Z-Wave signals, making it harder for the hub to communicate with the switch.

Reach out to us if your ZEN73 Switch is still experiencing issues, we'll be happy to help!
