How to Program Your ZEN32 Scene Controller on Vera

The ZEN32 Scene Controller is not fully supported by Vera at the moment. While you'll be able to use it as a light switch (connected to the main button), the only way to assign actions to the small remote control buttons is now through direct association. 

The limitation with direct association programming is that you can only link the buttons on the ZEN32 with other Z-Wave devices that were added with the same security level to your Vera. The ZEN32 Scene Controller supports S2 authenticated security or no security so if you're using an older controller that doesn't support S2, you'll need to make sure that the device you're trying to control with one of the buttons on your ZEN32 is also added without any security (and not with S0 for example).

 

Here is how to program the device using direct association on your Vera hub:

  • Click on the ZEN32 device in the Vera dashboard
  • Click on Device Options
  • Under Associations enter the group number for the button you'd like to program (see below for association group mapping) for Group ID.
  • Click Add Group.
  • Click on Set and select the device you'd like to trigger with the button you're programming.
     

ASSOCIATIONS MAPPING:
Group 2: Main button basic set (pressed only, doesn’t send anything when switch turned on via hub)
Group 3: Main button multilevel (held)
Group 4: Small button #1 basic set (pressed)
Group 5: Small button #1 multilevel (held) > in sequence > held = increase brightness, release = stop level, held = decrease brightness, release = stop level
Group 6: Small button #2 basic set (pressed)
Group 7: Small button #2 multilevel (held) > in sequence > held = increase brightness, release = stop level, held = decrease brightness, release = stop level
Group 8: Small button #3 basic set (pressed)
Group 9: Small button #3 multilevel (held) > in sequence > held = increase brightness, release = stop level, held = decrease brightness, release = stop level
Group 10: Small button #4 basic set (pressed)
Group 11: Small button #4 multilevel (held) > in sequence > held = increase brightness, release = stop level, held = decrease brightness, release = stop level

 

Give it around 5 minutes for all of the changes to go through before testing the association. And if something is not working right, just reach out to us!
