How to Add Your ZAC36 Valve Actuator to Hubitat

Adding your ZAC36 to Hubitat will be done in no time!

The Valve Actuator is fully integrated with Hubitat as of platform version 2.2.6 so please make sure you update your hub if you're still running an earlier release. If you're using the Hubitat C-7 hub, for now you'll want to select Include without security and add the ZAC36 without security to successfully add the device. The Titan will fit on valves up to 1.25". Is your pipe larger? Reach out to us about an extension kit for the ZAC36 to accommodate larger pipes/valves.

You will have complete access to the Valve Actuator's advanced settings right out of the box on Hubitat.

Follow these instructions to include your ZAC36 to Hubitat:

Smart Start Inclusion

On the Hubitat app:

  1. Open the Tools tab (wrench icon on the bottom)
  2. Scroll to the bottom, select Z-Wave
  3. This will take you to a screen where you can select either Smart Start or regular inclusion
  4. Select Smart Start
  5. This will take you to the smart start inclusion list. Devices will be displayed there that are in the process of inclusion through Smart Start.
  6. Select the QR symbol in the top right to open the camera for the DSK scan
  7. Power the device (important to do this AFTER QR scan)
  8. The device integration will begin. The window will appear asking you to name the device; click Save after naming
  9. Finishing inclusion may take a few minutes

If you have any issues with Smart Start Inclusion on Hubitat, please review this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sf-Fldjb0to. The steps should be the same whether you have a C-7 or C-8.

Manual Inclusion

  1. Open Hubitat in your Internet browser
  2. Go to Devices
  3. Click on Discover Devices in the top right corner
  4. Click on Z-Wave
  5. Click on Start Z-Wave Inclusion
  6. While the app says is in inclusion mode, tap the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times quickly - make sure you hear a beep each time you tap the button (if you don't hear it, please try again). It's a touch button so simply place your finger on it, there will be no tactile feedback like on a push button.
  7. Rename and confirm the found device

If your ZAC36 is having trouble being added, you can try excluding the device using the steps shown here before including it again. The process will act as a soft reset and it can help with a variety of configuration issues.
