If you are unable to include your ZEN78 High Power Relay to Home Assistant, start by excluding the device. The relay can be excluded from Home Assistant even if it has never been successfully included. Exclusion simply acts as a soft reset to help with any configuration issues.
Exclusion Process
- In Home Assistant: open Settings > Devices and Services > Z-Wave JS > Configure
- Click on Remove Device
- Click on Start Exclusion
- Click the Z-Wave button 3 times as quickly as possible (the LED indicator will start flashing red rapidly). If it does not start flashing red rapidly, you did not click the Z-Wave button quickly enough; please try again, clicking as quickly as possible.
- Home Assistant will confirm that the device was removed, and you should now be able to add it to your system
Important Note: The device has an internal relay, which can turn on and off with a click of the Z-Wave button. This means that when you are attempting to include or exclude the device, the clicks need to happen as fast as possible; if the clicks are not completed fast enough, the relay will engage instead and the device will not enter inclusion or exclusion mode. You will know you have clicked fast enough when the LED indicator begins flashing rapidly.
Factory Reset
If exclusion does not allow for inclusion, or if you are unable to exclude the device, please try a factory reset on the unit before attempting inclusion again.
- Ensure the unit is powered (the LED indicator will be a slow pulsing red when the device is powered and not included)
- Click the Z-Wave button once and immediately after, press and hold the button for 20 seconds. The LED indicator will flash red for 20 seconds and turn solid red for 2 seconds to indicate successful reset.
You should now be able to include the relay to Home Assistant.
