If Hubitat shows your ZEN56 RGBW Dimmer as “offline," it may suggest a range or configuration issue. A Z-Wave Network Repair may be the solution!

Interferences like large furniture, thick walls, or metal elements can shorten Z-Wave range. The given range for your network is determined by the specific structure of your home and the strength of your mesh network. If you're seeing connectivity issues, we first recommend repairing your Hubitat network. This function refreshes the connections between your hub and devices so that the hub can find the most efficient route to each device.

Ensure your Hubitat hub is up to date on its platform version. Next, utilize the steps below to run the Z-Wave Repair to refresh your Z-Wave mesh network connections:

Repair Z-Wave Network

  1. Open Hubitat in your Internet browser

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Click on Z-Wave Details

  4. Click on Repair Z-Wave

If it is successfully repaired, you will see a "Z-Wave Network Repair finished" confirmation.

More Troubleshooting Steps

You can also try these other troubleshooting tips with your ZEN56 Dimmer:

  • You can exclude the dimmer and reinclude it. This acts as a soft reset to help your device configure correctly or find a better route to communicate with Hubitat.

  • Another option is to add a non-battery powered Z-Wave device, or a Z-Wave signal repeater, between the hub and dimmer, if you have one available. This will help improve communication between the two devices. You will need to run another Z-Wave Repair for the additional device to be recognized and used in the communication path with the ZEN56.

  • If you had the device connected via the mesh and you have offline issues, try including the device via Z-Wave Long Range if you have a ZWLR supporting hub. Additionally, if you had the device connected via ZWLR and encounter offline issues, we recommend trying out the mesh instead. The beauty of the advent of ZWLR is the option to include each device using the method that works the best.

Factory Reset

If none of the steps above resolve the issue, try a factory reset on the device:

  • Click the Z-Wave button once and immediately after, press and hold the button for 15 seconds.

  • The LED indicator will flash red during the process and turn solid red for 3 seconds to confirm a successful reset.
