Inclusion doesn't always work on the first try - if that's the case with your ZEN35 Scene Dimmer, you should try excluding it!

It may sound strange, but exclusion is just a reset. A device doesn't need to be included to be able to be excluded.

We always recommend trying exclusion first, in case the device was partially registered this is the simplest refresh. However, if the LED indicator does not respond to the exclusion request, please factory reset the unit instead, then try inclusion again.

Once you've checked your Hubitat platform is on the latest update, follow these steps to exclude your ZEN35 from Hubitat:

  1. Open Hubitat in your Internet browser

  2. Go to Devices

  3. Click on + Add Device in the top right corner

  4. Click on Z-Wave

  5. Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion

  6. While the device is searching for a device, tap the switch button 3 times quickly (the LED indicator will start blinking blue)

  7. The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.

After a successful exclusion, try adding the ZEN35 Scene Dimmer to your Hubitat network again. You can find the inclusion process here

Still having trouble pairing your Scene Controller? Here are some helpful tricks to try:

  • Factory reset the ZEN35.

  • Try excluding the switch again. Sometimes the exclusion command doesn't go through correctly on the first try.

  • When including the unit, try tapping it 4-5 times as quickly as possible instead of 3, in case the switch did not register the action correctly.

  • Bring the hub closer to see if that helps make communication easier between the Scene Dimmer and hub. You can also try adding a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the ZEN35 and hub to rule out any range or connectivity issues if including the unit via the mesh network.

  • If you were able to include the ZEN35 to Hubitat, but it doesn't respond to remote commands, take a look at these connectivity troubleshoots that may help.
