Having trouble including the ZEN35 Scene Dimmer to your SmartThings hub? Give exclusion a try!
The first thing to double check is that you have installed the Edge driver for the ZEN35. You can find the steps to install the lua Edge driver here (coming soon!).
With the Edge driver installed, you can go ahead and give exclusion a try. It may sound strange, but exclusion is just a reset. A device doesn't need to be included to be able to be excluded.
Here's how you can exclude the ZEN35 from the SmartThings app:
- Open your SmartThings app and locate your SmartThings hub under Devices. Tap the hub to see the device details.
-
Tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and tap Settings
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the app is searching for a device, tap the switch button (biggest button) 3 times quickly (the LED indicator will start blinking blue)
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done
Once SmartThings sends a message confirming the device was removed, try including the Scene Dimmer again using the process shown here.
If your ZEN35 is still having trouble being paired after exclusion, here are some other things to try:
- If the LED is not responsive to the exclusion command, run a factory reset. If successful, try including again.
- Try to exclude the device again. Commands may not always go through correctly on the first try, so going through the process again can be helpful.
- When trying to include, click the main button 4-5 times as quickly as possible, in case 3 clicks isn't enough or isn't being recognized.
- Bring the hub closer to the ZEN35, or add a Z-Wave signal repeating device between the hub and Scene Dimmer, to rule out any range issues. A signal repeater can be any Z-Wave device not being powered by batteries.
- If you were able to include the ZEN35 but it isn't responding to Z-Wave commands, check out these connectivity troubleshooting tips.
