My ZEN04 Smart Plug Shows Offline in SmartThings

Having an issue with your ZEN04 Smart Plug showing offline in SmartThings? The first thing to rule out is any potential range or connectivity issues. Take a peek at the simple troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue.

Let's start by refreshing your mesh network connections via a network repair:

 

  1. Open your SmartThings app and locate your SmartThings hub under Devices. Tap the hub to see the device details. 
  2. Tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and tap Settings

  3. Tap Z-Wave Utilities 
  4. Tap Repair Z-Wave Network 
  5. Tap Start Repair 

Before you send any commands to your ZEN04 Smart Plug, please wait until you see the "Z-Wave Network Repair finished" message - this can take up to 15 minutes. Once the network repair is finished, try adding the plug back into your network.

 

If Network Repair doesn't resolve the issue, try excluding and re-including the Smart Plug directly from its installation location. This ensures that SmartThings can create the most efficient route of communication with the plug, in case it wasn't established correctly the first time. 

 

Still experiencing connectivity issues? Try installing the ZEN04 closer to your hub. This allows you to determine if the issue is range or an interference disrupting the signal between the hub and device. Once you've moved the device, remember to exclude and re-include it to give it a chance to connect properly.
