This is product is discontinued and has been replaced by the ZSE50 Siren & Chime: What does that mean?
Documentation for the new ZSE50 Siren & Chime can be found here: ZSE50 Knowledge Base
Because the device was discontinued before SmartThings moved from the groovy platform to the lua platform, we will not be creating custom code for the new SmartThings platform for this device. The new architecture is still unstable enough that we need to continue making adjustments for all of our active products continuously, both on the code and documentation side which is draining the resources around platform integration.
Some basic functionality is maintained for the ZSE19, but since this device is multifunctional and supports Z-Wave command classes that are not included in the SmartThings catalog, much of the functionality is not available on the SmartThings hub any longer.
Exclusion is just like a reset, and can help with a variety of configuration and connectivity issues. Let's try exclusion first.
Devices don't need to be included properly to be able to be excluded. Check out the steps to exclude your ZSE19 below:
- Open your SmartThings app and locate your SmartThings hub under Devices. Tap the hub to see the device details.
-
Tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and tap Settings
- Tap Z-Wave Utilities
- Tap Z-Wave Exclusion
- While the app is searching for a device, click the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times very quickly
- The app will indicate when the device is successfully removed. Tap Done
Once the successful exclusion message appears on your hub, try including the siren to SmartThings again.
If exclusion didn't make a difference, here are some other solutions that have worked for users in the past:
- Try the exclusion process again! Sometimes commands from the first run aren't registered correctly, so sometimes this can help.
- Try the inclusion process again, only this time instead of clicking the Z-Wave button 3 times, click it 4-5 times as quickly as possible.
- Try including in a non-secure mode if you attempted adding it securely the first time.
- Bring the siren closer to SmartThings to verify it's not a range issue.
- Double check that the device is powered and that the batteries are oriented properly.
- If the unit is generally unresponsive, try performing hard reset on it and trying the inclusion process again.
But if you're still seeing issues with the exclusion/inclusion process no matter what you try, let us know! Our team will be happy to help.
