How to Add Your ZEN37 Wall Remote to SmartThings

Before you include the device, you will need to install the Edge driver to have the ZEN37 Wall Remote properly recognized on SmartThings. Once the driver is installed, follow the simple steps below to include the device.

We recommend the below method as the most efficient way to add any 800 series device that supports SmartStart:

  • Tap the plus icon in the home screen
  • Tap Device
  • Tap "Scan QR code" (in the corner of the screen) and scan the QR code located on the back of the remote (or enter the PIN code printed under the QR code)
  • Click "Start" under "Let's get started with your Z-Wave device"
  • Select the room you'd like the device to be added to and click "Next"
  • While the app says "Get your device ready to connect. Check the user manual for details.", click the top button 6 times quickly. The LED indicator will blink blue during the process and light up green once added successfully. It will light up red if failed.
  • The app will indicate when the device connects, it may take up to 45 seconds so please don't leave the screen just yet.
  • It will say "Success" once the device is found. Tap it to rename the device, and tap Save.
  • Tap Done to complete the setup.
  • After inclusion has finished and you’ve tested that the button is working you should click the lower left button 6 times as quickly as possible to wake the device up. The LED indicator will stay on solid blue during wake-up and will turn off when the device turns the Z-Wave radio off again.

Once the device is added, you can program it according to the instructions here.

If the hub is not finding your device, try excluding it first. Exclusion acts as a reset and is the most efficient way to resolve inclusion or configuration issues.
