If you were able to include the ZEN32 Scene Controller, but it's not responding to Z-Wave commands, it could be experiencing a range or connectivity issue.

While the ZEN32 uses the latest 700 series Z-Wave chip and has a range of up to 500 feet line of sight (between the hub and nearest non-battery powered Z-Wave device). But it can still be affected by interferences like large furniture, thick walls, or metal elements, which can shorten the Z-Wave range. The range and connectivity between your Z-Wave devices is determined by the specific structure of your home and the strength of your mesh network. If you're seeing connectivity issues, we first recommend healing your Home Assistant network. This function refreshes the connections between your hub and devices so that the hub can find the most efficient route to each device.

  1. Click on the Z-Wave Control Panel in Home Assistant
  2. Under Z-Wave Network Management, click Heal Network

If your device still has trouble getting back online, here are some other things that may help:

  • Try excluding and re-including the device again in case the hub didn't find the most efficient route to the ZEN32 the first time.
  • Try bringing the hub closer to the ZEN31. If it connects successfully and continues to respond to commands, then it may be out of range from where the hub is normally installed.
  • Try adding a Z-Wave signal repeater between the hub and Scene Controller. A signal repeater can be any non-battery powered Z-Wave device - switches, relays, smart plugs, or dedicated repeaters. A repeater can help strengthen and stabilize Z-Wave connectivity. After adding the repeater, it's a good idea to heal your network once more.

Send us a message if you are still having trouble with your ZEN32 no matter what you try. We'll be happy to help.
