For the new 800 series ZSE11, you will need to install the custom driver to ensure proper motion reporting.
Check out the full installation instructions for the driver here: How to Access Advanced Settings for ZSE11 Q Sensor on Hubitat
Note: The sensor can only be powered by a single power source. If it's powered by both USB and battery, it may damage it and it could not work on battery reliably afterwards.
Here are the inclusion steps for your ZSE11 Q Sensor:
Smart Start Inclusion
On the Hubitat app:
- Open the Tools tab (wrench icon on the bottom)
- Scroll to the bottom, select Z-Wave
- This will take you to a screen where you can select either Smart Start or regular inclusion
- Select Smart Start
- This will take you to the smart start inclusion list. Devices will be displayed there that are in the process of inclusion through Smart Start.
- Select the QR symbol in the top right to open the camera for the DSK scan (scan the QR code printed on the back coversticker)
- Power the device (important to do this AFTER QR scan)
- The device integration will begin. The window will appear asking you to name the device; click Save after naming
- Finishing inclusion may take a few minutes
If you have any issues with Smart Start Inclusion on Hubitat, please review this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sf-Fldjb0to. The steps should be the same whether you have a C-7 or C-8.
Manual Inclusion
- Power the sensor: Insert the batteries or the USB cable. The LED indicator will start blinking.
-
Open Hubitat in your Internet browser
-
Go to Devices
-
Click on Discover Devices in the top right corner
-
Click on Z-Wave
-
Click on Start Z-Wave Inclusion
-
While the app says is in inclusion mode, click the Z-Wave button 3 times as quickly as possible. The LED indicator will start blinking to confirm inclusion mode and turn off once inclusion is completed.
-
Rename and confirm the found device
The sensor will automatically pair as a repeater if connected to USB power, no special button sequence required. NEVER include the sensor powered with USB and then switch over to batteries. Your hub will recognize the sensor as a Z-Wave repeater and the batteries will drain quickly. Always include the sensor powered by batteries only if you’re planning to use it as a battery device.
Trouble pairing the Q sensor to Hubitat? Make sure you are within range of the hub or another non-battery powered Z-Wave device and try excluding it from the hub first. This will help the hub recognize the device better and fix any configuration issues.
