You'll have your Universal Relay paired to your Vera hub in no time!
Before including your device, ensure the ZEN17 is properly powered. The power supply only provides power to the Z-Wave chip and electronics within the unit. Therefore, the power supply doesn't need to be rated for a lot of power,
- USB C with a 1 A Power Adapter plug (you just need a USB-C wall adapter, the USB-C cable is included with the device)
- The power adapter must be a basic 5V / 1A USB-C power supply. Do not use Apple chargers or any USB PD (Power Delivery) adapters, as they may output higher voltage and damage the device.
- 12-24 V AC/DC adapter (or any other 12-24 V AC/DC power supply)
- We highly suggest testing the output voltage of your power supply, especially when powering the ZEN17 from a 24V transformer. We're finding many newer transformers that are rated for 24V are actually outputting more than 28-29V, which will damage the ZEN17.
Here are the steps for adding the ZEN17 to Vera:
- Select the Devices tab in your Vera app. Then click on the gray "+ Add Device" button.
- Choose Generic Z-Wave Device from the device list
- Click the Z-Wave button on the ZEN17 3 times quickly (The LED will begin flashing to signal communication and will remain on for 2 seconds to confirm inclusion)
- Three new Z-Wave devices should appear on your device list: one master node and two child nodes for individual control of the relays.
* If you’re using an S2 hub, it will ask you to enter the DSK PIN or scan the QR code printed on the device.
Trouble pairing the ZEN17? Try excluding the unit from your Vera network using the steps shown here before trying the inclusion instructions again.
*Updated Disclaimer: We've seen several issues with Vera hubs properly recognizing and integrating 700 & 800 series Z-Wave devices. It seems that the mios and Vera systems are no longer updated or supported for new features and Z-Wave libraries as they're replaced with the new Ezlo platform instead.
Unfortunately, we've had to remove Vera hubs from our compatibility lists for this reason. We're not able to modify devices to accommodate older discontinued systems like these as we need to follow the current DSK for our devices to pass Z-Wave certifications and work well with active platforms that are up to date. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Let us know if you have any questions about the inclusion process, or about your ZEN17!
