If you're having issues adding your device, exclusion is always the first thing to try.

"Exclusion" is the general term we use for removing or unpairing a device from your system. Different hubs and brands will use different words for the same process, even though it's just a reset. A device doesn't need to be included to your system to be able to be excluded. Here's how to do it:

  1. Bring your Z-Wave hub as close to the RGBW Dimmer as possible
  2. Put your Z-Wave hub into exclusion mode (See your hub's manual for specific steps. Each brand is different!)
  3. While the hub is searching for a device, click the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times quickly to finalize the exclusion process
  4. Your hub should confirm that a device has been excluded

If that didn't work, it's possible some of the tips below will help:

  • Try excluding the RGBW Dimmer one more time. It's possible that the exclusion commands didn't go through the first time around
  • Try the inclusion process again, only this time instead of pressing the button 3 times quickly, click it 4-5 times as quickly as possible. This can help make sure the commands are registered correctly.
  • If you have a hand-held secondary controller, try bringing it closer to the RGBW Dimmer and using it to complete the inclusion process.
  • Try adding a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) between the RGBW Dimmer and hub to see if that helps communication, especially if there are walls, floors, metal & glass elements, or even large furniture between the two nodes.
  • And if you find that your RGBW Dimmer is connected but it's not responded to remote commands, check out these tips for troubleshooting connectivity.

If you've tried all the above with no luck, let us know! We're here to help.
