If you're having trouble adding your ZEN78 High Power Relay to HomeSeer, you may need to try exclusion first. This process can be done with any Z-Wave device, on any Z-Wave hub, at any time, regardless of the device's inclusion status.
The exclusion process simply acts as a soft reset and can be done even if you haven't paired the ZEN78 to HomeSeer or another Z-Wave network before.
Zooz products are officially integrated with the Z-Wave Plus and the Z-Wave JS Front-End of HomeSeer. If you're experiencing issues with the unit not properly displaying, we would recommend first updating to the Z-Wave Plus or the Z-Wave JS Front-End, then excluding and re-including your device to your network in order for it to be recognized correctly.
Important Note: A slow pulsing red LED indicator is the expected state for the device when not included to your Z-Wave hub; as long as the unit has power and is not included, it will slowly pulse red at a steady pace. The device has an internal relay, which can turn on and off with a click of the Z-Wave button. This means that when you are attempting to include or exclude the device, the clicks need to happen as fast as possible; if the clicks are not completed fast enough, the relay will engage instead and the device will not enter inclusion or exclusion mode. You will know you have clicked fast enough when the LED indicator begins flashing red rapidly.
Exclusion Process
-
In the HomeSeer UI, click the Plugins; from the drop-down menu, select Z-Wave.
-
Select Remove Device.
-
You will be taken to a new page; click Continue to start the exclusion process on the hub.
-
Click the Z-Wave button 3 times very quickly (the LED indicator will start flashing rapidly). If it does not, please try again, clicking as quickly as possible. See the Note above.
-
HomeSeer should confirm the device was removed. Finalize by clicking Finish.
Once the exclusion process is finalized, try including the device to HomeSeer.
Factory Reset
If exclusion does not allow for inclusion, or if you are unable to exclude the device, please try a factory reset on the unit before attempting inclusion again.
-
Ensure the unit is powered (the LED indicator will be a slow pulsing red when the device is powered and not included)
-
Click the Z-Wave button once and immediately after, press and hold the button for 20 seconds. The LED indicator will flash red for 20 seconds and turn solid red for 2 seconds to indicate successful reset.
SmartStart and Z-Wave Long Range Inclusion Troubleshooting
If exclusion is not successful, if you have previously added this device to your hub, if SmartStart failed, or if the device will not include, please follow the steps below in order. Removing the device from the provisioning list generally resolves most inclusion issues:
1. Click Plugins > Z-Wave Plus > Z-Wave JS Front-End.

2. Click the SmartStart icon.

3. Locate your device via the DSK number and click the trash icon to remove it from the provisioning list:

The device has now been removed from the provisioning list.
4. Factory reset on the ZEN78. After a successful reset, the device will disappear from the device list.
5. Remove the ZEN78 from power if you plan to include the unit via SmartStart / Z-Wave Long Range.
6. Go through the inclusion steps listed here to include the device (remember, power stays OFF until indicated).
Additional Troubleshooting
-
Try the exclusion process again in case the command from the first run weren't registered correctly.
-
Try bringing the hub closer to the device to see if it connects in a closer location. If it connects without issue in the new spot, then the first location may be out of range or there may be too many interferences in that area.
