Can't Add My ZAC38 Range Extender to My Z-Box Hub

Having issues including your ZAC38 Range Extender to the Z-Box? Let's start simple: give the exclusion process a try!

It may seem counter-intuitive, but the easiest way to resolve inclusion or configuration issues is by excluding the device first! Exclusion can be done at any time, even if a device has never been included to the hub. Another way to think of exclusion is as a hub-based Z-Wave reset.


How to exclude the ZAC38 Range Extender from your Z-Box Hub:

  1. From the sidebar navigation menu of the Z-Box web interface, go to Settings by clicking on the gear icon.
  2. You will be redirected to the Devices menu.
  3. Click the red - Remove device button in the top right corner.
  4. Select the Z-Wave Device option.
  5. Get ready to activate your Z-Wave device and click Start.
  6. Click the Z-Wave button on the device 3 times quickly (the LED indicator will start blinking green)
  7. The Z-Box will confirm exclusion, and the LED indicator on the device will turn green for 2 seconds


Once the Z-Box confirms a successful exclusion, please try including the device again.


Still having trouble?  

  • Try the exclusion process again. It's possible that the command didn't go through the first time. 
  • Once you put the Z-Box back into inclusion mode, click the Z-Wave button very quickly 4-5 times to ensure the command has gone through.
  • Try bringing the device closer to the hub during the inclusion process. If it includes without issue, the previous location may be out of range or there may be too much interference.
