Get the right accessories to make sure your ZEN52 works well in your installation!

  • Control 2 switches with 1 Z-Wave device: connect the double relay to 2 120V loads for independent smart control from your Z-Wave hub or wall switch
  • Great for double gang box switch automation or to add Z-Wave to a fan / light installation for individual control of the motor and bulbs
  • Wires behind the wall switches or at the fixture (if you don't have a neutral in the switch box)
  • 700 series Z-Wave: the latest tech for faster communication and better range
  • SmartStart with S2 authenticated security with encrypted signal
  • Pigtail wires for easy installation
  • Smart bulb mode: disable manual and/or Z-Wave control and turn your smart bulbs on or off using wireless signal only
  • Scene control: 7 multi-tap triggers available for each relay (available on hubs that support multi-tap triggers*)
  • Multicolor LED indicator to guide you through the set-up process
  • Compatible with quality LED and incandescent bulbs (don't connect to ballast tube lights, switched receptacles, or fans over 1/4 hp; NOTE: FEIT bulbs are not recommended)
  • Acts as a Z-Wave extender: get more signal for your network with this 700 series repeater

The key to any successful installation is preparation! Before beginning the installation, read the instructions included with your ZEN52 and gather the tools you'll need. Check if additional wire or wire nuts are needed to complete the installation. The recommended wire gauge for your installation is 14 AWG as used in most standard 120 V installations. Other basic electrical tools you may need on hand for the installation include a voltage meter and electrical pliers.

Important: Before installing the switch, make sure the ZEN52 is suitable for the location. The maximum loads for the ZEN51 are 500W incandescent, 150W LED bulbs, 5A resistive, 1/4 HP fan motors per channel. The ZEN52 relay should not be connected to a mixed load of incandescent and LED bulbs and is not rated to control a receptacle.

Here are a few additional items to check before installing your double relay:

  • Use the correct wiring diagram! We have wiring diagrams for various installations. Wiring diagrams for simple single pole installations can be found under the ZEN52's product page. If you are unable to match the wiring, please send us images of the wiring available and we will verify if the ZEN52 can be installed in that location.

  • Connect the neutral. Your ZEN52, similar to the Zooz switches, needs a neutral to be installed. If you're not sure whether you have neutral in the box, reach out to us! Otherwise, the ZEN52 can be installed at the fixture if neutral is not available in the switch box.

  • Ask a professional. For safety reasons, we don't recommend installing the switch yourself if you're not comfortable with an electrical installation. If you're able to, hire a licensed professional to help with the installation.

  • Contact us for help. What's on our diagrams might be different than what's in your switch box. In that case, we'll be happy to help create custom wiring instructions for you. Just submit a ticket with your order number with the unit (so we can verify the model; you can send us an Amazon order number too!) and images of the wiring in each switch box (so we can send the most accurate directions).

Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions about your ZEN52 Double Relay!
