Can't Add My ZEN26 On/Off Switch to Hubitat

Exclusion is a quick and easy process to perform in order to then include the ZEN26 to your hub.

The process serves as a soft reset to fix any inclusion or configuration problems, and can be done even if the ZEN26  Switch was never connected to your hub’s network. You’ll want to make sure your Hubitat is also up-to-date with the version it’s running on. Then you can go ahead and try to exclude the ZEN26 with these steps:

  1. Open Hubitat in your Internet browser

  2. Go to Devices

  3. Click on Discover Devices in the top right corner

  4. Click on Z-Wave

  5. Click on Start Z-Wave Exclusion

  6. While the device is searching for a device, tap the Lower Paddle 3 times as quickly as possible

  7. The app will indicate when the device is successfully excluded.

After successfully excluding, try connecting the ZEN26 again following the steps found here. If your switch is still unable to connect to Hubitat, try some of these tips:

  • Go through the exclusion process one more time in case the process wasn’t recognized on the first try.

  • Trying pairing the switch to Hubitat again, tapping the paddle 4-5 times instead of 3, but make sure to tap as quickly as possible so the switch registers the command.

  • Your switch may be installed too far away from the hub and needs a Z-Wave signal repeater (any non-battery powered Z-Wave device) added in between it and the hub to resolve any range issues. A hand-held secondary controller, like a Z-stick, can then be used to connect the ZEN26 switch to Hubitat.

  • Take a look at these connectivity troubleshoots if you find that your device is paired with your hub but is not responding to any remote commands.
