The redesigned ZSE43 Tilt | Shock Sensor (Hardware Version 3.0) introduces several hardware improvements that make the sensor more versatile, reliable, and easier to use.

While the device continues to provide tilt and shock detection for garage doors, gates, mailboxes, and other applications, the new hardware brings expanded capabilities that weren't possible with the previous design.

Redesigned Enclosure

The new ZSE43 now uses the same compact housing as the ZSE44 Temperature | Humidity XS Sensor, replacing the larger enclosure previously used on Hardware Version 2.0. The updated design offers a more modern appearance while maintaining simple installation.

Mounting Bracket

The new ZSE43 comes with the same mounting bracket used for the ZSE44 for quick and easy mounting on your garage door!

Indoor Installation

The New ZSE43 is rated for indoor use only, so the outdoor case previously used on Ver 1.0-2.0 will not fit the new VER 3.0 unit.

Longer Battery Life

Hardware Version 3.0 now uses a CR2450 battery instead of the smaller CR2032 battery found in Version 2.0. The larger battery provides increased capacity, helping extend battery life between replacements while remaining easy to find and replace.

New 3-Axis Digital Accelerometer

One of the biggest upgrades in Hardware Version 3.0 is the move from a traditional single-axis tilt sensor to a digital triaxial (3-axis) accelerometer.

Unlike Version 2.0, which could only detect a simple vertical tilt, the new sensor measures movement and orientation in three dimensions (X, Y, and Z). Instead of simply determining whether the sensor has tipped from vertical, it continuously understands its position in 3D space.

This provides more accurate tilt detection, improved vibration and shock sensing, and greater flexibility when mounting the sensor in different orientations.

Updated LED Behavior

The LED indicators have also been updated to make it easier to identify the type of event being detected.

• Vibration or shock trigger: Red LED flashes once

• Door open or close (tilt) event: Blue LED flashes once

Sensor Calibration

Hardware Version 3.0 introduces sensor calibration for installations that require it.

By default, the sensor is designed to be installed within 0–5° of vertical. If your installation falls within this range, no calibration is necessary. For installations outside of that range, the sensor can now be calibrated to ensure accurate tilt detection.

New Configuration Parameters

Hardware Version 3.0 adds eight new configuration parameters (Parameters 10–17), providing additional customization options that were not available on the previous hardware.

Firmware Compatibility 

Because Hardware Version 3.0 includes significant hardware changes, Version 2.0 devices cannot be upgraded to Version 3.0 firmware. Likewise, Version 3.0 firmware is only compatible with Hardware Version 3.0 devices. Attempting to apply the incorrect firmware version will not convert an older sensor into the new hardware revision.
