The LED indicator on the ZSE50 Siren & Chime can be customized using Parameter 7: LED Indicator Color. This setting allows you to change the color of the LED to better fit your preferences or installation environment.
How it Works
The ZSE50 uses a Hue color scale (360° circle) similar to RGBW controllers. Instead of selecting from a color wheel, colors are represented as decimal values (0–255).
-
A value of 0 corresponds to 0° Hue (Red)
-
A value of 255 corresponds to 360° Hue (White)
-
Values in between represent different points on the Hue circle
Seven standard color points are defined, but you can select any value between them to create a blended color.
Angle (Hue) | Decimal Value | Hex Value | Color |
---|---|---|---|
0° | 0 | 00 | Red |
60° | 42 | 2A | Yellow |
120° | 85 | 55 | Green |
180° | 127 | 7F | Indigo |
240° | 170 | AA | Blue |
300° | 212 | D4 | Purple |
360° | 255 | FF | White |
Example:
-
Setting Parameter 7 to value 85 will give you a green LED.
-
Setting Parameter 7 to a value between 42 and 85 will give you a shade between yellow and green.
Below is the visual of the color wheel and how the angles correlate. NOTE: you do not have the option to select from the color wheel; utilize the values noted in parameter 7. The color wheel is simply a visual representation.
Hex Value Explanation
The hex value listed in the table is not a color code like you might see in web design (for example, #FF0000 for red). Instead, it is simply the hexadecimal representation of the same decimal parameter value.
For example:
-
Decimal 42 = Hex 2A
-
Decimal 85 = Hex 55
-
Decimal 127 = Hex 7F
-
Decimal 255 = Hex FF
Most Z-Wave hubs, including SmartThings, Hubitat, Home Assistant (Z-Wave JS), and Z-Box, use decimal values (0–255) when setting parameters. The hex values are only relevant in advanced cases where raw Z-Wave command classes are used, such as in Zniffer, PC Controller from SiLabs, or custom scripts. Unless you are working with developer tools, you should always use the decimal values.
Important notes
-
This is not a full color controller; there is no color wheel or live preview.
-
Colors are selected by entering a decimal value between 0 and 255.
-
Any values between the 7 standard points will produce blended colors.
