First thing's first. Check that the dimmer works fine when controlled manually.   

After that, we can move on to the Z-Wave part of the installation. We use the term "include" when we want to add or pair a device - it may be helpful to note since different Z-Wave hubs use different words for the same process. 

Here's how to include your Dimmer to your Z-Wave system:

1. Bring your Z-Wave gateway hub as close to the switch as possible
2. Put your Z-Wave controller into inclusion mode
3. Tap the upper paddle of the switch 3 times very quickly
4. A new dimmer switch will appear on your hub's device list
