Can My Zooz Switch Be Used with Add-Ons, Dimmers, or Another Z-Wave Switch?

While Zooz switches cannot be directly wired to other smart switches or electronic add-on switches, you can make two Zooz switches work together using remote Z-Wave control. Remember, always wire your Zooz switches according to the appropriate diagram from the manual for the model you're installing.

Zooz switches introduce new types of wiring methods for multi-point control set ups that haven't been seen before among Z-Wave devices. For the S2 switches in particular (ZEN76, ZEN77, ZEN73, and ZEN74), you can add this model to a 3-way configuration without re-wiring the second box, and you can use S2 switches in 4-ways and 5-ways where load and line are separated between two boxes. You can even wire them in 6-ways and 7-ways provided that line and neutral are in one of the boxes.

But as a result you can only use regular 3-way on/off switches in your multi-point control set ups. That means no regular switches with LED indicators or illuminated paddles either - this is because the "dumb" switch (regular on/off) in the 3-way only gets an electronic signal through its neutral; it doesn't actually receive any power. The LED indicators on these switches require power to light up, so it may pose problems with the installation.

The switches should always be wired exactly as shown in the diagrams, following all specifications in the manual. You can find wiring diagrams for your Zooz switches here

If you prefer a uniform look and would like to use two or more Zooz switches in a multi location setting, see special instructions for virtual set-ups here. Since we're turning these installation into de facto single pole set-ups with remote control on the secondary switches only, you could use any Zooz model here with the same wiring. We do recommend the ZEN71 and ZEN72 models for remote control as they handle installations without load better due to their hardware design.
